Character Study: Courtney

Courtney Hamilton has blonde hair and brown eyes. She is an “All American” girl. She can trace her family history all the way back to the American Revolution. Her family emigrated to California in the mid 1800s during the gold rush. She is outgoing and popular and is more concerned with fashion and popularity than academics. She complements Carmen’s seriousness. Her knowledge of popular culture comes in handy in some situations.

Courtney did not have concrete plans for her future but intended on attending college and having a great four years finding herself. She volunteered at the Veterans Administration hospital with Carmen. She found it depressing and a bit creepy and did not enjoy the stories told by the veterans.

She is also intuitive and quite the con woman. She tries to charm her way through difficult situations and is usually successful. Carmen gets exasperated with her sometimes because Carmen feels Courtney should rely more on her intellect and less on her charm. Courtney is a joker. She likes to plot practical jokes with Carmen to play on Zach and Duke.

As noted, she and Carmen don’t compete academically or athletically, but they do compete for boys. She likes Zach but Zach can’t see her as more than his sister’s best friend.

She is the most confused about how to handle her new powers after being drugged by Danglar. She had never had physical strength and is quite clumsy with it. She is concerned about the long term effects and is anxious to get the antidote.
